Writer's Playground
This is a friendly competition or I like to say writing experience created by Mariana Dávila Moreno and Merick Humbert. They created fun and unique prompt-based short story competition for us to develop and share your stories. I personally love the experience they have offer to us, and have already participate in couple them.
You have 10 days to to write a 3000 word story with choosing a character prompt and a setting and adding a mystery 'thing' that every entered story will have. There are award for the winners, but the best part in my opinion is the feedback. No matter if you win or loss you will receive a critic and advice about your work. As a growing writers, having someone who does not know you or seen any of your other work give you feedback is a great tool.
Please check out there page here for past winning stories and for their next competition.
Below are my works from Writer's Playground

January 2026
This story I wanted more emotion into it. At the time, I put my emotion of isolation and shame from being fired from my new job after 2 months there into the story. It didn't take much time for me to write out those feelings. I thought I was going to make it sad story, but the next day continuing my writing I realize I am pushing for a positive ending. I decide yes my life maybe going down hill fast; however, I don't want hers too. I wanted my character to push past restraint and go for what she is wanting to do.

October 2025
This was my first competition. When I saw the prompts, I instantly had an story in my head. I started with a text conversation then jumps to the main girl moving to a new place and starting her own business. I wanted to add a romance with the wedding and with the best friend's brother. Sadly, my idea is too big for a short story. When I have the time, I do want to make an actual story come to life. For now, enjoy!
